WRJCA - Wins the U12 Keith Mitchell Shield at the VMCU carnival 2024

Updated: Jan 23

Congratulations to the U12 WRJCA Keith Mitchell Team on taking out this year premiership over ISEC (Inner South East) in the VMCU Representative Carnival. Making it Back to Back wins in the Mitchell Shield.

Finals scores were WRJCA 6/173 off 37 overs to ISEC 5/170 off 40 overs.

After posting a respectable 5/170 in their allotted 40 overs, ISEC were going to have trouble defending that score the way the WRJCA boys have been scoring throughout the tournament. After being 1/2 very early in the game, and 6/116 the WRJCA had to dig deep as they had found themselves in a dog fight.

True to their fighting spirit, the boys from the west came out snarling, with an undefeated final wicket stand seeing us past the team from the Inner East.

In a team effort, the major scoreboard contributors were Jujhar Singh 30, Rohan Sood 43, Abhik Nomula (c) 13, Noah Ramsey (vc) 11, Shiv Patel 38 no & 2/17, Shaurya Mahadik 20 no, Vedh Vikas Reddy Onteddu 1/18, Yusuf Syed 1/23. Player of the Match and Finals - Shiv Patel - for his allround efforts. Well done everyone - great team effort.

The WJCA would like to thank Jack Hale and assistant Cameron Howitt for coordinating and coaching the team. You have been instrumental in taking this age group from a good team to world beaters.

Thanks to all the parents and helpers for supporting the team across the whole tournament.

Thanks to the Truganina Cricket Club for making available their ground and facilities for the final in both the Browne and Mitchell grades.
